Important Notice – Daily Limits for Point of Sale Transactions and ATM Withdrawals

Canadians use debit cards millions of times a day at banking machines and point of sale terminals. While the majority of transactions are completed without any problems, there have been a growing number of cases of card fraud in recent years. In 2009 it cost Canadians about $142 million in debit card fraud alone.

Many card holders have withdrawal limits that are far beyond their needs. Criminals are realizing this and taking advantage of it.

Macleod Savings & Credit Union Ltd. is continuously looking for ways to protect our members. One of the most effective ways to reduce the average dollar loss per card is to reduce the daily Point of Sale transaction and ATM withdrawal limits.

As a result we will be implementing a change in daily limits effective September 1, 2010.

Please consult your local branch for specific details.
